ATSUKO KUDO Couture Latex Designs
|
Japanese born, London based designer Atsuko Kudo has
been producing exquisitely feminine designs exclusively in
latex since 2001. Her collections feature a full range of
ladies wear including dresses, suits, lingerie, corsets, hats
and accessories in her trademark lace and leopard prints, as
well as all of the classic latex colours.
Atsuko Kudo clothing has always been designed for those
who wish to look and feel beautiful, feminine and strong and
has been worn by some of the world’s most glamorous
women including Lady Gaga, Dita von Teese, Beyonce, Kate
Moss, Naomi Campbell, Eva Mendes, Janet Jackson,
Christina Aguilera, Kelly Brook and style icon Grace Jones.
Atsuko’s couture latex designs are widely recognised for
transcending many of the pre-conceptions surrounding the
fabric. She is feted for her pioneering techniques, using
exclusive prints, filigree and folding techniques to create an
instantly recognizable style. She was the first to win the
European Latex Designer of the Year, for 2008/09.

Atsuko’s designs have featured extensively in the world’
s most influential fashion titles including W magazine,
Dazed & Confused, Interview, Numero, French Vogue,
Vogue Italia, Vogue UK, German Vogue, Vogue Japan,
Vogue China, Korean Vogue, V magazine, Harpers US,
Harpers UK, GQ, Grazia UK, Grazia France, Marie
Clare, Velvet, Wallpaper, Sunday Times Style, The
Observer and the New York Times.
Over the past few years Atsuko Kudo has become the
definitive couture latex label working with Hussein
Chalayan, Richard Nicoll at Cerruti, Vivienne
Westwood and Manish Arora for the Paris runways
and for Fendi/Karl Lagerfeld in Milan. She has
completed many commissions for TV, advertising and
music videos and created the distinctive looks for the
girls in the Hello Kitty/MAC make up advertising
campaign launched world wide in 2009.

Later in 2009 Kelly Brook stole the show at the GQ
awards wearing a pink lace print Atsuko Kudo latex dress.
Last year also saw the beginning of Atsuko’s work for
Lady GaGa including outfits for her now legendary
Glastonbury performance and the infamous red latex
Victorian/Elizabethan gown and ruff which she wore for
the Royal Variety Performance in December and which
grabbed headlines world wide when she was pictured
wearing it whilst meeting the Queen.

In 2010 Atsuko has continued to design for Lady Gaga
including her red nun’s outfit for the ‘Alejandro’ video and
many pieces for her ongoing Monster Ball World Tour
including the black 50’s cup bra and the lilac leopard print
one piece which have become staple looks for a performer
who rarely wears any garment more than once. Atsuko also
designed Beyonce’s yellow latex cowgirl outfit for the
‘Telephone’ video with Lady Gaga.
October 2010 has also seen the first full scale Atsuko Kudo
runway show as she headlined at Lingerie New York.
Atsuko presented a completely new couture collection for
Spring/Summer 2011. The show not only represented her
debut in the USA but also the first entirely latex couture
show anywhere in the world.
