Schirin Khorram/ Germany
"The profoundness in people, formidable faces and the absurdities in everyday life are things that I would like to present on paper or canvas."
Schirin Khorram was born in Oldenburg, Germany. She works predominantly in the medium of painting. The portrait takes a central position in
her work. Khorram completed an MFA with distinction at the School of Fine Art in Bremen in 1991.
She has been exhibiting her figurative works inter alia in Oldenburg, Bremen, Berlin (DE) and Newcastle (EN). She lives and works in
Augustfehn, Northern Germany.
"The central focus of Schirin's art is a portrait.
She reads the face of her subject deeper than its contours, she approaches it so delicately like one would approach a wild animal, taming the
soul of it for some time and then setting it free. In all her portraits the soul of a sitter is apparent, an aura, an expression of the face that is unique,
and while looking at them.
She loves the iconography of the 20th art and the ingenuity of intricate codes of street art is one of her comfort zones." Teuta Skenderi 2012
