| In the world of photography, Paul Blanca is a distinct outsider. What makes him so colourful and special? The fact that he is averse to merchandising. Commercial press , science photography etc., are all wasted on him. The selftaught Paul Blanca goes his own creative, black and white way, although he yields now and then colour. He, not the commissioner of his work, decides what must be done, by the image that s in his mind, to him it s about the expression of tragedy. |
| He knows which picture he wants to present and he belongs to the category of 'frugal' photographers. He believes in that one moment, that one expression, therefore, he uses merely negatives, often on a large format, such as 6 by 6 on his old Rolleiflex; he also uses technical cameras. |
