Ji Sun Park is multi creative artist and designer. She has studied many kinds of art and design, and she has been
painting since she was a child. She began painting when she was five years old and went to a private art school while
she through elementary, middle, and high school. She attended Kaywon Art and Design School in Korea with a major
in Product Design and a minor in Floral Design.
After she earned her design degree, she came to the United States to experience a new culture. Since she enjoyed
the American culture so much and wished to advance her skills, she decided to continue her education at the
University of Kentucky Interior Design program. Since she wanted to focus on color theory for her Master of Arts
thesis, she took a silk painting class, and she developed textile design and silk painting skills. Her art professor Arturo
Alonzo Sandoval, the fiber arts teacher at UK, contributed his knowledge of silk painting toward the development of
her skills.
Ji Sun Park’s art philosophy is based on the “Beauty of Color”. Color is one of the most powerful expressions of human
communication. She wants to show the beauty of nature through color to the world. Her paintings immortalize the
beauty of the natural world.
This portfolio displays her flower, sky series in silk painting and felting. Nature is part of the inspiration for her work.
These exhibit her unique use of the layering technique of color and her impressive control over bleeding colors, fusion
style, and quilting to create her design composition.
