Lighting Design Collaborative was founded in 1978, and is incorporated
in the State of Pennsylvania.
During the early 1980’s, LDC established a presence in New York City where it continues
to have an office. Major commissions from this office include:  Smith Barney Headquarters,
NY, NY Museum of Racing, Saratoga Springs, NY Statue of Liberty – Interiors, NY, NY
Remington Museum, Albany, NY SOHIO Headquarters, Cleveland OH BWI International
Airport, Baltimore, MD

As a response to the late 1970’s energy crisis, the firm undertook a yearlong commission to
develop electrical componentry and task, ambient, and task/ambient lighting fixtures to
become a part of Canadian furniture manufacturer, Interiors International Limited (iil).
The owner John Geiger has since changed the firm name to Geiger International and
moved their manufacturing facilities to Atlanta Ga. This commission gave LDC immediate
recognition to the then new industry of Interior Design

Levy Lighting NYC

For two decades Ira Levy has been in the gratifying position of being able to express his love for
light. Ira fuses a unique architectural imagination with theatrical inventiveness and technical
proficiency to produce a synergy that creates mood as well as enhances people's lives. Each project
receives detailed and personal attention from conception to completion.

Why did you start Levy Lighting NYC?
I felt the creative side calling me. I was working as a liaison between a fixture manufacturer and
lighting designers, utilizing my technical knowledge to translate the client's vision into reality. But I
wanted to work with the entire gamut of lamps and fixtures in order to fully exercise my
imagination in the service of clients. I love "painting" the "canvas" of space with lighting that's
designed to create a mood and enhance people's lives.

Michael Mariotti Interior Design

According to interior designer Michael Mariotti, quality of life and happiness go hand-in-hand with a
well-designed home. “If you are comfortable in your environment, then you will be better equipped
to face life’s challenges,” he strongly believes. While Mariotti’s clients have different criteria for
their houses, the interior designer’s common thread is his ability to make each home a reflection of
the client’s best qualities. His philosophy and approach creates homes that are smart, inspiring, and
ultimately functional.

As concerns for the environment have increased, so has Mariotti’s inclusion of eco-sensitive
products and finishes with naturally aesthetic qualities. Bamboo and cork flooring, natural textiles,
and recycled tile have been incorporated into recent projects. Energy-efficient LED lighting is also
regularly used in conjunction with ample natural light.

The Future Perfect

The Future Perfect was born from the desire to showcase the newest and best in decorative arts and design.
At once it is a store, shop, gallery and mecca, mixing talent from New York and the world. Founder David
Alhadeff recognized that too much design seen in magazines or boutique windows relied on cleverness but,
in the end, had no lasting or intrinsic beauty. In Brooklyn, things were different. Its designers were on to
something fundamental and exquisite. In September of 2003, the store opened, celebrating local products
and furniture with a party. Alhadeff's Dad flirted with Williamsburg girls and made hot dogs while his Mom
worked the register and made the sales. Soon after, The Future Perfect was alive and stocking up on
designs and names from all over.
