Sara Louise Petty is a New York based photographer, fashion designer and mother.
Jaune Everlasting
Sara focuses on street photography
and street portraiture - capturing an
unwitting subject and stealing a
moment. Her chosen home of New
York and the people who inhabit it are
what inspires her the most. She
concentrates on analog photography,
mostly with medium format cameras.
She loves the romance and magic of
film, and the excitement of viewing her
negatives for the first time.
Baby Dreads
She recently took a trip to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba. Although not her first time
on the island - she was compelled to document the charm, grittiness and soul of the island.
Sara went off the beaten path, met fantastic and generous people.

In Aruba 'Chollers' is the word used to
describe the growing population of crack
cocaine users. Some reside in this small
area on a street remarkably close to the
tourist district, just a couple of streets
away from the prestigious shopping
district. She visited the island's most
prolific crack den and documented the
people who live, deal and get high there.
They live with their children - beautiful,
sprightly little children- who played with
their toys made out of trash and empty
coffee cans.
Sara met people from all
walks of life, all incredibly
humble and generous in
heart. One man took Sara
to his house, which had
burned to the ground and
he doesn't have the means
to rebuild. Others
welcomed her into their
circle and invited her to eat
with them, serving their
local delicacy: iguana soup.
An often overlooked island
and known purely for it's
pristine beaches, the real
Aruba sure offers a lot of
soul.
