The Wonderful Art of Susan Olmetti

TNYO: Why do you pose nude
Susan Olmetti: For my self John my nudes represent to me the definitions of the
cohesive force of life and sexuality
Fear, love, confusion, and at times grace
TNYO: How Long Have you been Posing Nude
Susan Olmetti: I started posing nude about ten years ago. I entered the world of
celibacy to focus on a strong body of work in order to stay focused
so posing nude allowed me to stay in touch with my emotional hunger
for winter sex.
John I have been painting for ten years I discovered my talent while
residing at the hotel Chelsea I was struggling at the time on my
direction in life I would always show Mr Stanley Bard The former long
time manager of the hotel Chelsea my work he would look at my work and
shake his head, he said Susan you understand color paint Susan and I did
and my journey started.

TNYO: Tell me about your paintings, why do you make them, what do they mean?
In words is the only way for me to describe my paintings
THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE
REACHING FOR THE STARS
IF YOU believe
I CAN TELL IT NOW
ALL ALONE
SAY IT WITH MUSIC
ARE YOU LAUGHING AT ME
WAITING AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
GYPSY ROSE
John the list goes on and on

TNYO: Where is your family from, tell me a little bit about them and your
current relationship.
Susan Olmetti: I am from Chicago and commute to and from New York and am currently
looking to relocate I feel New York is the center of creativity and my
art loves it here. John my family I would say I have nothing good or
bad to say.
TNYO: For the past several years you have rented a room at the Chelsea hotel in
New York and you are currently staying at The Carlton Arms another art hotel
here in NY why do you do this.
Susan Olmetti: Well thats a toughy I love the Hotel Chelsea its always been a home away
from home for me but unfortunately new management wants to change the
philosophy from what the Bard family has established for over 50 years.
John when I look back during the change in management a large number of
evictions took place immediately and it's all on public record, in the current
managers minds eye what Mr Stanley Bard created was in vein,
Stanley put a roof over many artists heads and I was always a
hair from the streets alot of us were. But Stanley would allow us to
fight for our art. The new management in my eyes put so many of us on
the streets and many of us lost so much and it did not have to be that way other
options could have been offered. In my heart I don't want to stay there
they don't want the artists there and I have experienced that first hand.
So I am staying at the Carlton Arms and loving it and they treat me very
nice and it feels great.

TNYO: Is it hard being a professional artist
Susan Olmetti: Of course its hard to
always stay on top and be in perfect form and keep creating
and get a handle on your composition and mark making.
TNYO: What would you be if you weren't a professional artist?
Susan Olmetti: Insane
TNYO: Tell me a little about your charity work
why do you feel the need to
devote so much time to these causes
Susan Olmetti: I love what I do
the feeling that I feel each time I am able to help
someone is a feeling I have never felt before. John as an
advocate I always have my phone line available and I tell whomever it is
what ever time it is just pick up the phone everyone who reaches out to
me is my first priority.
TNYO: Do you have a boy friend, whats your take on relationships
Susan Olmetti: John, no I do not, still waiting for my one true love.

I love playing at love. I am a young woman ready to conquer the world
with my art. The winter sex is coming for me. I am creating for my
immortal beloved. So the first question I always ask can you dance
because I always find an audience in the wee hours of the night while I
am creating to the hot tunes of jazz. When I hear the right answer I
will find him.
TNYO: How old are you?
Susan Olmetti: 38 years old
TNYO: Can you pick a song that you love to work too, for
The New York Optimist
Readers to hear?
Susan Olmetti: Kenny Rogers The Gambler
