MIGUEL PAREDES SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN 2010 FOUNTAIN ART FAIR
Renowned Miami based artist to be featured in the 4th annual New York showcase.
NEW YORK (February 17, 2010) – Miguel Paredes, one of leading innovators and cross over artists working today, will be showcasing his
Los Niños collection of paintings at the 4th annual Fountain NY Art Fair, from March 4th through March 7th.  Paredes’ body of work as an artist
is unmatched in its diversity of style, technique, and technological applications.  The Miami based phenomenon is known for his
accomplishments mixing pop, collage, urban impressionism, Anime, and his own uniquely thoughtful vision of 21st life.

Using his own children as the larger than life models for the
Los Niños paintings, Miguel Paredes offers up an original perspective on the
effect a decaying culture continues to have on an entire generation of young people.  In this version of the future, childhood rites of passage
are uncertain and even dangerously manipulative.  Brushed with an unsettling maturity and seductive tension, the children in
Los Niños are
heroic and provocative.  Armed with “jammies”, cap guns, tricycles, graffiti masks, milk cartons and a large slice of “whas-up” attitude these
innocents register somewhere between hopeful, energetic and miraculous.

The entire experience of these paintings is shockingly honest, risky and flies in the face of three decades of neo_Pop and post-modern ideas
that no image is truer or deeper than the next.  The children of
Los Niños dream of a better world and Paredes’ skill as a painter humanizes
the unknown with a visual experience that is a thrilling, detail infused narrative about the 21st Century.

Miguel Paredes’ roots in graffiti art and Latin American culture, along with his mastery of color, composition and pictorial concerns have made
him a powerful and imaginative voice in the contemporary marketplace.  Hailed by critics and collectors for his uninhibited and ambitious
undertakings as an oil painter, a sculpture, and a hand-drawn digital inventor working on surfaces as diverse as metal, marble and back-lit
acrylic, Paredes harnesses the narrative skills of a great storyteller with a deep emotional connection to memory and myth.

The Fountain Art Fair selected Paredes for its Independent Artist Projects this year, citing his brash embrace of attitude and natural ability to
step up our ability to see ourselves in new and previously unexplored ways.  Paredes’ recent showing on Lincoln Road in Miami during the
2009 Art Basel and Art Miami international extravaganza garnered him more press for a single artist than any other exhibitor during that week
long December event.

The 2010 Fountain Art Fair runs opposite the Armory show,
March 4 through March 7, in the sprawling 10,000 sq ft venue Pier 66 aka The
Frying Pan.  The VIP PREVIEW for the Fountain exhibit will take place
Thursday, March 4th from 11 a.m. until 7 pm with proceeds to benefit
the Museum of Arts and Design.  An opening night reception will be held Friday, March 5th, from 7 pm until midnight.  Miguel Paredes will be in
attendance at both events.  To read more about Miguel Paredes go to
