The Inn at lake joseph
The Inn consists of three distinct dwellings: The lodge with its casual English Country environment; and for more rustic accommodations, the
Adirondack-style Cottage and Carriage House guestrooms with their own private entrances, where pets are welcome. Here are some of the other
ammenities the Inn provides,  A variety of summer and winter recreational facilities, including the use of a nearby full-service health and fitness club. But
unlike larger hotels, the Inn, with just 17 guestrooms, is an informal, casual country retreat that assures guests a relaxing, private, rustic mountain lake
environment. Breakfast is served on the screened veranda, surrounding guests with the sounds and feel of the lush green forest. When glassed in
during winter, guests experience the beauty of a surrounding snowscape. Over the years, the Inn has received various awards and has been praised in
travel articles and publications, as well as by guests themselves on
Trip Advisor.  In addition, most of the guestrooms have working fireplaces, whirlpool
baths and private sundecks.
The Inn at Lake Joseph is the perfect vacation getaway thats affordable and is just a short trip from the city.
The New York Optimist staff highly recommends this lovely country escape. Enjoy!!
Deep in the Catskill mountains, amidst the colorful autumn foliage, through colorful country backroads bordered in cascades of red, brown,
ochres, bright yellows and oranges you will find the Inn at Lake Joseph a 135 year old victorian estate . This past weekend, The New York
Optimist was invited to take part in this country, storybook experience where peace quiet and tranquility is the theme if that's what your looking for
in a vacation. I have to admit that being able to breathe fresh clean mountain air was a nice change from the harrowing feeling of inhaling exhaust
fumes from the taxi traffic in this crazy city. But the real catch for a New Yorker like myself is to have the convenience of a luxurious surrounding
while still being able to experience nature in all its splendor. Owners Ivan and Ru Weinger have put a lot of time into making the Inn a home away
from home for their guests.  We stayed in the Redwood Room in the Carriage house, a duplex room that is part of a converted barn house from
the late 1800's that was once used as a stable. The Inn at Lake Joseph's seventeen rooms have what I would call perfect placement, the same
qualities that make the difference between a good and bad painting. Placement: it's how the wooden gates and elements from the original horse
stables are incorporated into the chic and slightly modern design elements that complete each room's decor. The Redwood Room is suited with
twin leather love chairs perched in front of a fire place in the living room on the first floor. The bathroom is tiled in slate with a sliding glass double
door and headed shower fitted for two. Leading upstairs to the cozy loft, a comfy king-sized Sleep Number bed and whirlpool bath await you.
Although the surroundings are quiet and peaceful there are plenty of activities to take part in,  Strolling with your loved ones through the forest,
kayaking or taking the rowboat out on the lake, roasting marshmallows after sunset by the firepit  playing billiards in the main house. The Inn is
also a short drive to the Bethel Woods museum, the site of the famous  Woodstock festival. Breakfast in the breakfast room is a wonderful
morning treat; you are provided with a small check list menu with make-your-own omelettes or eggs any style with bacon or sausage on the side.
French toast, homemade pumpkin bread, english muffins, fresh fruit and yogurt are other breakfast options accompanied by good strong coffee
and orange juice. The old antique signs show a great sense of humor with funny sayings teasing your hubby or your wifey, adding to the charm
and feeling of this bright and beautiful window encased setting overlooking the surrounding fields and forest.
