Picture a night sky so clear that the moon seems to be conducting the constellations in a symphony played for your ears only.
The perfect selection of restaurants to dine and have cocktails (i was referred to The Hide away Restaurant where the food was some of
the best Ocean Beach has to offer, stay tuned for a review of The Hideaway in next weeks edition) all with in a short walking distance of
each other.
Quaint quiet streets where no cars are driving by you to spoil the air quality.
A tiny island oasis where the people are friendly and the ocean is a stone throw away.
The Palms Hotel On Fire Island''
|
Im not talking about the Bahamas or any place in 'the caribbean''
im talking about Fire Island a trip only a few hours outside of Manhattan!!
Yes you have heard of Fire Island but if you have not had the chance to visit this lovely
intimate vacation escape heres your chance.
Of Course your busy and you have been planning to use your two or three weeks of vacation from work during the summer months to take
your family or your girlfirend to get away and have some fun.
Why not getaway to an island completely removed from the hustle and the bustle of the city yet only a thirty minute ferry ride
away, to Ocean Beach one of five locations on Fire Island NY.
I was invited to spend the weekend at The Palms Hotel in Ocean Beach Fire Island By Laura and
Chris Mercogliano
who own this lovely escape tucked away on Cottage Walk, a hop skip and jump from the ferry.
It seems that this couple were a destined match made in heaven or at least hotel heaven, Chris has
an extensive background in Hotels and retsaurants having run several succesful ventures in Miami
Beach and laura who Ran and owned a succesful bed and breakfast.
together they know how to make a vacation everything it should be, relaxing and comfortable.
When I arrived on Thursday evening I was greeted by Courtney Perry a young beautiful blond
woman with a smile so bright I needed to put my sunglsses back on.
She announced that The ''Lexington room'' had been reserved for me
and I thought to myself well thats a name that says luxury.
I was right, The Lexington is a four bedroom cottage which looked a lot more like a loft to me then a cottage.
each room was equipped with a flat screen TV, satellite access, Wi-Fi, iPod Docking Stations, a refrigerator, and luxurious Egyptian
cotton sheets for your comfort. click here to view all the amenities
Designed more for a family ( one of the bedrooms is equipped with two smaller beds for children) this cottage suite had everything a
traveller could want when staying away from home a full kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and granite countertops in an airy floor design
that opens into the living room and dining area.
A terrace with a wrought iron fence imported from france (no smoking in the rooms so this
came in handy for me') which rounded out a number of design elements that would make
any Architect / artist smile
Washer dryer service and a huge private patio entrance that reminded me of a courtyard in
Paris.
Surrounded by beautiful beaches (including a nude section for those open minded
adventurers)
This tiny island will be a destination I will visit many more times in the very near future.
