The New York Optimist
December 2008
D.J. Kevin Graves
Congrats to Keo Nozari for his fab track "Rewind" hitting #18 on the Billboard Dance chart. My remix is included, so this is my 2nd Top 20 Billboard Dance remix!
My request: please help cross this over to dance radio by purchasing it on
iTunes and calling Sirius Out Q (866-305-6887) and your favorite dance radio stations
to have them add it to rotation!
I'm one of the founders of an amazing new organization called The Power, dedicated to furthering equal rights through grassroots action that produces real results.
Now is an important time: Prop 8 unfortunately passed, and equality in NY and all over is in jeopardy. You can help make a difference. Please join our
Facebook
group, spread the word, and reach out to your web programming and design friends. See below, and be sure to check out the Harvey Milk video, it's amazing:  Have
you been looking for a way to have an impact?

So you went to see the movie "MILK", or you saw this amazing video and you thought to yourself, "Wow, Harvey Milk is a great inspiration...this was the perfect
movie at the perfect time...I wonder what I could do to be a part of the cause..."

You've been thinking about it but nothing has hit you...yet. Well, take this as the universe's way of hitting you over the head. There is something you can do. You
can put your skills to work in a way that can help to change the world as we know it.

The Power, a new organization dedicated to inspiring grass roots activism and political action, is looking for web technologists to join a team that is building a web
portal that will serve as a hub for political and social action centered around LGBT rights and issues. There are already over 6,500 members (straight, gay and
everywhere in between) of this community but we need to do more to leverage this group's networks on the Internet to engage, organize, grow and communicate
with the group.

We are looking for volunteers to help in building the following features:

1. Allow people to sign up for alerts
2. Survey members
3. Serve videos through a third party video service
4. Provide user pages (maybe?)
5. Collect donations and or sell merchandise
6. Allow people to generate letters to legislators
7. Take RSVPs for events and enable people to invite others.
8. Blog
9. Facebook Application

I know that there are a lot of you reading this note right now who can help. Maybe you know someone who can help. Maybe you don't know that you know
someone who can help. But you have a network and you can ask it.

I am asking you for your help. This is not about being straight or gay, this is about being a part of a team that will help bring justice to the world. This is about
making a decision to stop merely talking about what should be and becoming a part of what is.

For those of you who do not have the technical skills to help, please forward this note to everyone you know who can help. And, if you can and would like to help,
please email me at
ThePowerNY@gmail.com and we'll get started.

My production partner Hybrid Heights and I turned out a fierce underground remix of this fab song from quirky Aussies Gameboy/Gamegirl, further
exploring my hipster side. Early reaction has been phenomenal....people always come up to me to ask what it is when I play it out, and DJs around the globe
are having the same feedback. Get it today on
Beatport and your other fine indie outlets. And check out this Beatport commercial, holy crap it's cool.

That's it for now. Thanks so much for your continued support. I've been getting a lot of friend requests and email sign-ups lately, so I
appreciate you spreading the word about what I'm up to!

Keep it going.
Don't Forget To Dance.
