Maya Solovey: Well I started playing music when i was about 5, I started playing piano first and played
for many years until i went to high school and piano was a little cumbersome and then I left that behind for a
while. I started writing songs about age 15 or 12 I guess somewhere around there and I'm 25 now.

Last month, The New York Optimist was invited to Birdland to hear the music of Freddy Cole If the name
sounds familiar that's because Freddy Cole is part of a large family of brilliant musicians including his
legendary brother Nat King Cole and niece, Natalie Cole. His performance was outstanding. Freddy's mix of
Christmas tunes and originals mesmerized the room. It felt straight out of a Fred Astaire movie where the
romantic, warm and smoky rooms were filled with the best musicians and artists.
